I finally had some time to play with Vista. It`s really sexy looking with dumb proof install (personally I don`t like installer) and other nice new features and of course some things I hate about it. But I will post this later...

Microsoft Virtual Server can be configured so that the Virtual Server service and the Administration Web site, with its corresponding installation of IIS, are on different computers. You may want to install the Administration Web site on a different physical computer if you want to have multiple physical computers running Virtual Server, but only one IIS server, or if you want to dedicate a physical computer to running only the Virtual Server service. This might be for performance or security considerations. This paper describes how to configure the Virtual Server service and Administration Web site on separate computers for both a new installation of Virtual Server and an existing installation of Virtual Server.

I just come across this feature. It` really great... I think allot of people wanted this ever since Windows XP early beta stage. In Windows XP this future exists of course. But not for domain joined PCs

But there is no guarantee that this feature will stay...

Deal expected to augment Microsoft’s investments in voice over Internet protocol technology, opens opportunities to bring additional powerful customer solutions to MSN Messenger and other MSN services.

Microsoft Corp. today announced it has acquired Teleo Inc., a provider of voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) software and services that enable the placement of phone calls from PCs to traditional phones and that deliver this technology in unique ways through a variety of software and Web applications. Microsoft expects to combine the technology and expertise of Teleo with the existing VoIP investments of MSN to further develop products and services that connect consumers to the people and information that most matter to them. Financial details were not disclosed.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in San Francisco, Teleo is a privately held company whose initial planned service offering, also called Teleo, was designed to allow customers to use their PC to make phone calls to cell phones, regular phones or other PCs. Through its integration with Microsoft® Outlook® and Microsoft Internet Explorer, the Teleo service was designed to facilitate click-to-call dialing of any telephone number that appears on-screen, for example through a Web site or via search results or e-mail.

VoIP technology already is prominently featured in MSN® Messenger as well as other Microsoft products and services. Microsoft plans to incorporate and expand upon Teleo technologies, integrating them into the infrastructure that supports MSN and ultimately projects delivering new VoIP consumer applications in future releases of MSN services.

“Teleo has great technology to deliver superior VoIP quality and an excellent overall customer experience,” said Blake Irving, corporate vice president of the MSN Communication Services and Member Platform group at Microsoft. “This acquisition opens up infinite opportunities for Microsoft to enable even more relationship-centric communications experiences for our customers in the future.”

Members of the Teleo executive team will continue to work closely with MSN following the acquisition, and a number of Teleo product developers are expected to join the MSN ranks.

Yesterday the Windows Server product team released Windows Server 2003 R2 RC0 to web.

Windows Server 2003 R2 release candidate software is available to download for evaluation in both x64 and x86 versions. Windows Server 2003 R2 RC0 software cannot be installed on anything other than software versions of Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1). Installing the RC0 software for Windows Server 2003 R2 does not extend the time that you can use the trial version of Windows Server 2003 SP1. The Windows Server 2003 R2 release candidate software is available for evaluation for 180 days.

• Use client–side software policies to prevent users from using desktop search engines.
• Consider using Exchange content indexing.

I personaly use MSN Search Toolbar with Windows Desktop Search. Don`t forget to run in cached mode to avoid problems! ;-)

SUMMARY
When you use the advanced features of Microsoft Windows Messenger together with a firewall that is not a UPnP firewall, you should consider the following points:

• Peers that are on the same side of the firewall can use all the features of Windows Messenger.
•  Instant messaging (IM) and presence information work through most firewall configurations.
• Ports can be opened to enable the peer-to-peer protocol to function through a firewall.
• Port ranges can be set to fixed ranges by using Group Policy.
  

Important: Only the IM traffic goes through the server that is running Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005. All other traffic goes through a peer-to-peer network.

This time I was in Switzerland. After a long trip with car (or short if compared to Nedtherlands ;-)) we arrived to Zurich in the middle of the night. It was raining and wasn`t too warm either - not a very promising weather for the parade on the next day. The hotel was little, but we had no objections.

Untill we arrived to our room which could be described with one word - claustrophobic! But I could handle that too, the thing that was like really fu**** up was the bed - i have never ever slept on such a shi**y bed. It was too soft and when i lied down the bed transformed into a bird nest with a huge hole in the middle. Needles to mention we woke up like someone would beat the sh** out of us.

But despite everything we woke up in a beautiful morning - unbeliveable considering the amount of rain during the night. First we went to Streetparade for couple of hours and then to Energy party. I think they need to learn alot of things from Dutch party organisations. Energy was much better than Slovenian parties, but the stage and the whole scene looked as being only half finished - really poor scene as compared to eg. ID&T Sensation party. Hopefully they will take into consideration the feedback from this year`s visitors and do some improvements for next year`s edition.

Zurich as a city is very similar to Ljubljana so it felt almost like being at home.
